Сooperation in agricultural sector

10 December in the State Duma, a cooperation agreement was signed on the implementation of the “German-Russian Agrarian-Political Dialogue” project.

The Chairman of the State Duma Agrarian Issues Committee, Valentin Denisov; the Vice-Chairman of the Federation Council Committee for Agrarian and Food Policy, Sergey Lisovsky; and German Ministry of Agriculture representative German Jeub took part in the signing.

Valentin Denisov recalled that cooperation between parliament members from Russia and Germany began in 1994 and was directed towards bringing Russian agrarian legislation into line with the norms and practices of the European Union. He said that it was largely thanks to this that competent laws were developed, making possible the formation of the country's agrarian and food policy and laying the foundation for the effective development of the agrarian industry.

Project director Harald Hoppe stressed:

“It is very important that within the project, programs directed towards training agricultural industry specialists, solving problems in the area of consumer protection, using the newest technologies in plant and stock breeding, and developing technical regulations for agricultural products are being implemented.” New projects for agrarian journalists and rural youth are planned for 2010.
