A trip to the fair for seeds

This year over 140 representatives from farms in the Kursk, Belgorod and Voronezh regions came to the Seed Fair organized by the Seed Farmers’ Union and the Kursk Regional Agriculture Industry Committee on the base of ZAO Artel in the Oboyansky district of the Kursk region. Here they could acquaint themselves with the products of leading seed producers and suppliers, which were offered by over 20 fair participants. - This year more than three million tons of grain, about three million tons of sugar beet, 85000 tons of oil-bearing crops and 835000 tons of potatoes were harvested in Kursk Region, - noted Nikolay Kovalev, the Head of Crop Production Department of the Kursk Region Agriculture Industry Committee. It is difficult to overestimate the significance of quality seed stock in improving crop yield. Therefore, under the State Program on Agricultural Producers Support, subsidies are appropriated for acquisition of basic high-yield seeds.
